Django Unchained Tops DVD Charts

Tarantino's epic drama knocks The Hobbit out of first place.

After a bonanza box office run, Django Unchained continues its ride to the top of the charts.
This time, Quentin Tarantino's antebellum spaghetti western came in first on the DVD and Blu-Ray charts, beating out Peter Jackson's The Hobbit. The film, which grossed $168 million in theaters, also topped the rentals chart for the week.

Django Unchained stars Jamie Foxx as a freed slave hell-bent on rescuing his wife (Kerry Washington) from a malicious plantation owner (Leonardo DiCaprio) with the help of a bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz, who won an Oscar for his performance). The film attracted a storm of controversy for its liberal use of the N-word and was derided by filmmaker Spike Lee for being "disrespectful" to his ancestors.
Audiences and critics, however, stood firmly on the side of the film, which was Tarantino's most successful to date.
